A founder's note
Our Philosophy
Why PremiumBrands offers CannaReviews.com, and the thinking behind choosing names for online businesses.
PremiumBrands exists because I want the names in the collection to have a practical future. I choose them with the same question I would ask before starting an online business: would I build on this? When the answer is yes, I can see a real starting point. CannaReviews.com belongs here because a publisher can put a clear editorial purpose directly into the name and then get to work defining the standard behind it.
What changing a name taught me
My experience with names comes from operating businesses as well as acquiring domains. In 2007, I acquired the press release distribution business running on i-Newswire.com. I secured iNewswire.com in 2013. By February 2015, after more than a year of negotiation and consultation with SEO professionals, I moved the business to Newswire.com. The decision was about giving the business a name I wanted to keep building on.
The morning of that switch, a prospect told one of our sales agents, “Oh yeah, Newswire.com. I've heard of you guys.” That was impossible at that moment. I still remember the comment because it captured the difference between explaining an address and getting on with a conversation. The work behind the business continued, but the introduction had changed.
The business was acquired in 2022. That was an acquisition of the business and the team's work, not a sale of the domain. The distinction matters to me. A name can be a strong beginning, while the service, the operating decisions and the people doing the work are what turn the beginning into a business. I do not confuse acquiring an address with having completed that job.
Buy for the business you want to build
I bought PremiumBrands.com before I had a plan for it. Premium names mattered to me, and I knew waiting could mean losing the chance to build on this one. By now it could belong to someone already using it, with no reason to sell. Securing the name let me think about the project with a concrete identity in place, instead of returning to the naming question at every step.
That is why the fix-it-later mindset does not appeal to me. Changing a name after launch reaches into email addresses, links, profiles and the way people refer to the business. I would rather make that choice while the project is young. A great name won't save a bad business. It does let a founder begin the work with a name they are comfortable putting on everything that follows.
The work is easier to start now
Through OnlineBusiness.com, I keep thinking about how founders turn an idea into a working online business. AI interests me because more of the early building work is within reach: research can be organized, prototypes can be tested and a small team can explore a direction quickly. My view is that recognizable names become more useful as the tools for building similar products spread. The exact address remains a choice another team cannot make once it belongs to your business.
For CannaReviews.com, I see a founder who wants to publish with a deliberate point of view. The name gives that founder a subject and an editorial job in the same breath. Starting with a small, well-defined beat would be enough. What matters to me is whether the person behind it wants to keep putting their name and their standard on the work, edition after edition.
Two ways to begin
If CannaReviews.com is the name for your project, tell PremiumBrands what you have in mind and ask about the acquisition. An optional personalized roadmap is available with every purchase to help think through a launch or rebrand. If your preferred name is outside this collection, I can also help you pursue that acquisition. I want the conversation to start with the business you would be proud to build and the name you want to stand behind. A premium .com is a trust shortcut.
